The St Enoch's Clock was donated to the town of Cumbernauld when the old St Enoch railway station in Glasgow was demolished. It was in Cumbernauld Town Centre for a number of years, and features in the film Gregory's Girl. It was put in storage when that part of the town centre was demolished. When the Antonine Shopping Centre was completed about eight years ago they erected it once more. Hamilton Mausoleum was built as a tomb and monument to Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton in the grounds of the now-demolished Hamilton Palace. It takes 15 seconds for the sound of a slammed door to fade, meaning the high stone vault has one of the longest echoes in the world.

A Kelpie is a mythical water horse and Andy Scott the artist based his Kelpies on the heavy horses traditionally used in the industrial areas of Scotland. The end of building them was celebrated by a visit from Duke and Baron, the Clydesdale life models for The Kelpies. Each of The Kelpies stands up to 30 metres tall and each one weighs over 300 tonnes.

Summerlee was one of Scotland's most important ironworks. Opened in 1836, it closed in 1926. It is now a museum of Scottish industrial life and has Scotland's only operational heritage tramway.

The Dollan Aqua Centre is a category A-listed building in East Kilbride. It was built in 1968 and looks like a giant concrete marquee – it has a huge vaulted parabolic arched roof, held down by pairs of V shaped struts that meet the ground at a 30 degree angle.
